Art and Music from the Neighbourhoods 2016-2019
During this time over 118 art and craft classes and programs were being held in Neighbourhood Houses throughout Barwon each week. Art from the Neighbourhoods was a celebration of the creativity taking place in these communities.
Art from the Neighbourhood 2016/17: Work from artists linked to Neighbourhood Houses in the Barwon Network were on show 8 Dec 2016 to 8 Jan 2017. Opened by Beth Davidson, the exhibition featured multi-storied, an installation curated by Esther Konings-Oakes. This event was gratefully supported by Geelong Connected Communities
Art from the Neighbourhood 2018: Curated by: Esther Konings-Oakes, this exhibition was held at the Shearers Arms Gallery from December 12th 2018 to January 6th 2019. The exhibition was an exciting community event that celebrated the creative talents of 64 artists from 11 Neighbourhood Houses across the Barwon Region.
Art from the Neighbourhood 2019: Curated by: Esther Konings-Oakes the 2019 artists had the opportunity to exhibit in a supportive and connected environment and to share creative experience. The exhibition was held at the Shearer’s Arms Gallery in Geelong West and ran from November 28th – 14th December 2019.
Music from the Neighbourhood 2016: On 23 September 2016, a musical event was held at the Grovedale Neighbourhood House. Music from the Neighbourhood was a celebration of our diversity through music and food. Which showcased local music artists from the region.
